Telangana Tunnel Collapse: NDRF Intensifies Efforts to Drain Water – Key Updates

Telangana tunnel collapse news: Operational rescue efforts are in progress to free the eight workers who are trapped in the Telangana's Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is moving into the tunnel in order to evacuate the workers in the tunnel for over 48 hours.

Telangana Minister J Krishna Rao told reporters that the odds of survival in this situation are "not that good." "Muck has piled up too high inside the tunnel, making it impossible to walk through.

On Saturday three meters on the roof an under-construction section that is part of the SLBC tunnel shattered at 14 km close to Domalapenta in the Nagarkurnool district in Telangana.

1. NDRF officials informed the news agency ANI that the team is working hard to eliminate the water that has accumulated in the tunnel. However, due the amount of obstructions in the tunnel the team is unable to verify that the workers' location is exact.

2. NDRF Vice Commandant Sukhendu Datta told ANI the force had traveled around 13.5 km in the tunnel, mostly by using conveyor belts and locomotives.

3. As per the NDRF official the yeam travelled 13.5 km when it entered the tunnel from the gate. "We covered 11 km by train and then the rest of 2 km by conveyor belt and by walking," Datta said.

4. The official further stated that the final 200 meters of the section that has collapsed are blocked completely by debris, which makes it difficult to determine the exact condition or where the workers are trapped.
